    In one set of new charges, the inmate is alleged to have created a fake court commitment document and impersonated a representative from the Office of the State’s Attorney in an attempt to secure his unlawful early release from prison.

    In another set of new charges, he is alleged to have used a contraband cell phone within his jail cell to facilitate a complex identity fraud scheme. As alleged in the charging document, he assumed the identity of dozens of people, including disguising his voice to impersonate elderly women, in an attempt to steal their money.  Source: Herald Mail and Maryland Attorney General

    A federal jury today convicted Marilyn J. Mosby, age 42, of Baltimore, Maryland, on federal charges of perjury, relating to the withdrawal of funds from the City of Baltimore’s Deferred Compensation Plan claiming that she suffered adverse financial consequences during the COVID-19 pandemic when she was Baltimore City State’s Attorney.     The lawsuit alleged that Safeguard Metals, LLC and owner Jeffrey Ikahn engaged in a $68 million fraudulent scheme thattargeted the retirement accounts of the elderly. In this scheme, Defendants used lies and fear to advise investors that their traditional retirement accounts were at risk of loss and encouraged investors to buy Safeguard’s fraudulently priced precious metals as a safe alternative.
