The doctor was convicted in 2023 in U.S. District Court in Baltimore of five counts of health care fraud. More than 4 months after the trial, A U.S. Senior District Judge acquitted the doctor in an opinion that the government did not present enough evidence to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit disagreed on July 17, 2025.
